So ok.. we got into Penang yesterday afternoon... only took hubs a total of 5 and half hrs to get here... Alhamdullilah... took a few pics but the internet here is so so slowwww that it took me close to half an hr to load a pic! grrr.. will hv to keep this short.. will load more pics of Penang in KL.. I am sorry for this delay.. i hv been so busy with baking that i didnt even hv the time to log on yesterday.. i cud read my email.. i cud reply to some via my iphone while waiting for my layer cake to be baked but i didnt take down my lappy to my kitchen.. thought i would be able to update my blog bef i went to bed but unfortunately i was too tired to do so..

Hello all.... is everyone still busy with their hari raya visiting?

In the spirit of Hari Raya I have decided to hold my 5th Giveaway.

This time I am giving away something that hopefully everybody can use (and everybody can enter!)... its a set of 4 MASTRAD stainless steel mixing bowls with lids.



What I like about these bowls is that they all have a rubber bottom. So when I place them on the counter for whisking, they dont slide around... The four sizes in this set are 13cm 0.7L, 17cm 1.4L, 21cm 2.8L and a 25cm 4.6L. Of course you can use them for much more than just baking; as salad bowl, serving food etc. The lids allow you to tightly seal and then place/stack them in the fridge.

In my online store this set retails for S$169.00.

Yes, macs are a pain in the behind, love 'em, hate 'em, love 'em again... but when you do bite into one.... its heavennnn :)

I'm especially proud of those who actually had the courage to bake macs just for the sake of this GA with a special shoutout to Epi who started a blog for this! If I could I would giveaway a mac sheet to each one of you who attempted baking macs over this weekend. But there can be only one winner!

But before I start talking about the winner, let me tell you a bit about Thailand.... kahkahkah.. am right now too excited to announce the winner but i have to... i just got to do what i hv to do ... Bismillilah...

Take a look at my pic below.. its all abt macs.. some are ok.. some look good and some err were cracked! i used to get frustrated.. i still do but it has never stopped me fm trying and wondering what went wrong.. did i screw it up during folding? did i not whip the egg whites properly? is my oven too hot? question question question.. to me.. its always a challenge when it comes to macs.. eventho i bake it almost every week..

But one thing is at least now a "constant".. the size and the shape. Am so glad that I now have a baking sheet that makes the shape perfect! The mastrad macaron sheet really does it well and gives me excellent results (but it is not a A-Z solution for good macs!)... anyway, with everybody wanting this and causing the "sold out" sign to come up in my store within 24h, I have decided to have my 4th GIVEAWAY!!

Ok ok.... Took awhile :) suspense.... sorry peeps! the real reason... we were out and only got home half an hr ago..

Now there were a lot of different answers... Some correct, some wrong, some very wrong, some funny, some crazy hehehe..

So what I did was I took all the correct answers, removed the duplicates and made a note of them listing them from 1-60. Yes... There were 60 correct answers out of 200 odd entries.. thank you once again guys... am overwhelmed.. :o)

Pictures say it all.... life is all abt taking chances.. same goes with baking... am always trying out new recipes.. its like a learning experience for me...you win some, you lose some...

And what does it take to bake the "perfect" one? Sometimes its luck, sometimes its the ingredients... but it starts with correct measurement.... so, here comes....

Sorry guys.. we just got back fm JB.. So ok... there are two ways I cud run the random numbers. I cud do it the hard way and number the CORRECT entries from 1 to xx OR I cud just simply run the number 1 to 94 (I have 94 comments as of Sat 7pm) through random.org and the result will then be checked against the comment number beneath the GA post. So I decided for the second option since it is simpler.

I hv been wanting to bake Dorie's Chocolate Madeleines eversince hb got me her book in 2009.. didnt get to it till now actually.. the story behind my Madeleines is simple.. When i looked at the recipe in her cookbook.. it had a much diff persona...





Chocolate Madeleines are filled with marshmallow fluff..(errr naah) and dipped in a chocolate glaze..( yayyyy). Dorie's "playing around" suggestions include replacing the fluff with Nutella.. (yayyy) but i discovered my Nutella expired a few months ago.. hmm how does someone who loves Nutella allow that to happen? shrugss . then i decided to discard the idea of trying out Dorie's Madeleine for now and try out a totally different recipe .. cracked eggs, added icing sugar, whisked em, folded in my sifted flour and added in my melted butter and vanilla extract.. placed my batter in my fridge and after 12 hrs sitting in my fridge, i took my batter out.. poured batter into my pipping bag and pipped it into my new Madeleines pan.. baked it and called it a success. Then I ate them all for breakfast after my so called workout (climbing up and down the staircase) Yes.. I did. And they were fabulous! ahaksss




So this blog is about two things (actually three things)... one, a Madeleine recipe. Two: A giveway that I will be having this week... smiling fm ear to ear?.... and three my new sponsor (which is linked to the giveaway)...

You see, hubby's company deals in many different things and one of them is a french kitchen supplies range called MASTRAD. (They are the ones who started with the funky coloured kitchen utensils). So hubby's work - which receives weekly doses of cakes etc from him - decided to "sponsor" Bisous A Toi! Thank you!




So first up, is the Mastrad Madeleine pan. You prob noticed that I so far have only used metal pans. Silicone bakeware put me real off some time ago when I bought a not so cheap one from Italy. The rubber smell leaked into my cake and I threw it away. So when Mastrad asked me to try their silicon ware I hesitated. But the product is superb!! No smell, no burning, no rust, easy to wash and hv i told ya that i hv been using Mastrad digital scale for the last 2yrs.. awesome awesome product!




Also in the "starter set" that I received besides the madeleine pan were 3 bright pink utensils: A spatula, a spoon and a flipper/turner..(ideal for fliping pancakes and crepes and also for spreading batter or icing cakes)




And do you notice that there are two of each of the 3 utensils??? HELLO!! hehhe

Well Mastrad has also sponsored me for my next giveaway. yayyyy.. these Mastrad baking utensil are to die for.. take the spatula for instance.. it has a little weight and superb at scraping out mixing bowls and pans, leaving not a drop of wastage of ur cake batter or meringue .. it is also heat proof meaning u can leave it on the edge of ur pan and it wont burn or melt or make ur food taste of plastic.. all the things abv can easily cost u close to $100 and it cud be urs if u answer a simple question..
